From the North and Hwy 81:
From Interstate 81 at Christiansburg get on Hwy 8 South and go approx. 22 miles right to the middle
of “downtown” Floyd where you’ll turn R. at the light onto 221 (Floyd Hwy). It’s the only light
between Christiansburg and Floyd (at least right now!).
Go approx. 6 to 7 miles and turn R. onto 729 - Laurel Branch Rd. There’s a large brick church and
cemetery at that corner - Topeco Valley Church. It comes up fast around the bend so be ready for it.
This turn is about 1/4 mile past the tie dye and gifts store (called Borderland) on the left.
Go 1.5 miles and turn R. into our lane - Ida Rose Lane. The mailbox on Laurel Branch says 179.
Proceed up the gravel drive and when the lane forks, go left up the hill to our house to check in.
OR - a shortcut saving you 6 miles and avoiding going through town:
Take Rt. 8 South towards Floyd from Hwy 81 and go approx. 17 miles. Turn right onto Rt. 729 (Wills Ridge Rd NW) and go 2.6 miles to end ("T") (we call it "the roller-coaster" - it's impressive - hold on!). Turn R. onto Laurel Branch Rd. (the continuation of 729) and go 2.7 miles to Ida Rose Lane NW (there's an old farm house right before it on R. and you'll see our mailbox with the # 179 on L.). Turn L. onto Ida Rose Lane NW (the only way to turn) just before bridge. It's our own private, gravel road - go slow please. Pass the first building (old farm house) on the right and take the left fork up to our house.
From the Blue Ridge Parkway traveling S:
Near milepost 165 turn R. onto Hwy 8 and proceed approx. 8 miles to the center of Floyd.
At the light turn L. onto Hwy 221 (Floyd Hwy)
Go approx. 6 to 7 miles and turn R. onto 729 - Laurel Branch Rd. There’s a large brick church and

Near milepost 171.5 turn L. onto Black Ridge Rd.
Go approx. 7 miles to end and turn L. onto Union School Rd. to end (very short) and turn L. onto Hwy 221 - Floyd Hwy.
Go approx. 3 miles and
make 1st R. onto Hwy 729 - Laurel Branch Rd.
Go 1.5 miles and turn R. into our lane - Ida Rose Lane. The mailbox on Laurel Branch says 179.
Proceed up the gravel drive and when the lane forks, go left up the hill to our house to check in.
From the West, Tennessee, Kentucky and Western N. Carolina:
From I-77 take exit 14 in Hillsville onto Hwy 221 N.
Go through Hillsville and watch for 221 turning left at a light. Proceed approx 21 miles and turn L. onto Hwy 729 - Laurel Branch Rd. There is a large brick church at that corner - Topeco Valley Church.
Go 1.5 miles and turn R. into our lane - Ida Rose Lane. The mailbox on Laurel Branch says 179.
Proceed up the gravel drive and when the lane forks, go left up the hill to our house to check in.
